Reason for Excitement

We had opening Convocation on this first day of the spring semester at the seminary. While exchanging good morning remarks with one of my closest friends, he looked at me and said, "You know, I'm very excited that this is the first day of our last day at seminary. In fact, I haven't been this excited since our first day at seminary." I agreed with his sentiment. We've worked very hard for the past two and a half years, and many of us can now see that glimpse of the finish line.

If anything might temper our excitement it would be the obvious uncertainty facing those looking for a call. That uncertainty could easily devolve into panic but for our faith in God's sovereignty and his steadfast love that endures forever.

Peace and grace to all of my collegues who find themselves waiting on the Lord.

Link O'The Day: GoodSearch

GoodSearch is a great way to give money to your favorite charity just for searching. Just visit the home page, search for your charity name (e.g. "Presbyterian Church USA"), and begin searching. Each search generates a small amount for the charity you select. I've been using this for awhile, and I encourage those who are interested to give it a try. GoodSearch uses Yahoo's search engine for generating results, so you'll generally get very relavant hits for your searches.

iPhone Jedi Powers

A committed Applephile, I was thrilled to see the coolness-laden iPhone, recently announced by Mr. Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, Inc. Behold:

Did you know that someone has already leaked the table of contents for the user's guide to McSweeney's? Neither did I. I urge everyone to check it out, because the iPhone will apparently have capabilities far above those of the average all-in-one phone/PDA/music player.

Most Interesting 2006

Perilously Delivering Supplies

I'm not sure how the algorithm works, but Flickr has determined that this photo is currently the most "interesting" of those I've posted.

We were on tour in Syria when we stopped briefly to take a picture of a sign saying "this way to Bagdad." Suddenly, this dude drove by at about 80 mph. He actually had to swerve a bit to the middle of the highway, which caused several of us to feel an intense constriction of the sphincter. These supply trucks are common, and their usual destination is, in fact, Iraq.
